Value Addition Pilot Case Study

Value Addition Pilot Case StudyThe Western Uganda Bantwana Program (WUBP) has implemented livelihood activities that have led to income generation for participating households and subsequent improvements in meeting children’s basic needs. Many other households, however, face the challenge of transforming increases in production into increased income due to long distances to markets, volatile prices, and low bargaining power. In response to these challenges, the WUBP team and local partners designed and implemented a six-month value addition pilot program. Through partnerships with three CBOs, WUBP supported participatory feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to inform the selection of value-addition activities for three communities.
