
Janet Barry
Senior Technical Advisor UgandaJanet brings more than 20 years of experience working in the US and abroad in adult education, HIV, social welfare service delivery, HIV, policy, and philanthropy. She has broad experience as a program advisor, program manager, trainer, and capacity builder of staff and organizations. Janet ‘s formal education includes a Master’s of Social Work from the University of Washington.
Janet began work with World Education in 2003 as a Resource Mobilization Director and with Gill Garb, raised inaugural private funding to launch Bantwana in 2008. Prior to her work with Bantwana, she provided program development support to World Education in Mali, Senegal, Benin, Cambodia, Nepal, and India. For more than a decade, Janet has supported Bantwana’s new business development and provided technical and management support to Bantwana programming in Eastern and Southern Africa. Since 2015, she has supported Bantwana’s Uganda portfolio as a Senior Technical Advisor. Janet also represents Bantwana on the Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Task Force, a global body dedicated to strengthening evidence-based OVC programming. The Task Force works closely with the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator (OGAC), PEPFAR. USAID and other global OVC stakeholders.
